From California to the Camargue
With François and Anne, in Pont-de-Crau
Totally atypical! This improbable villa, built in the 70s by the famous architects Émile Sala and Alain Jouve, seduced this couple from Belgium, who went through California to finally opt for another flat country, very sunny: the country of Arles. Our mission (if we accepted it): to interpret the villa's Seventies score in the garden. All the spirit of an era to be translated into materials, plant essences, rounded shapes and a feeling of abundance... A leap in time and space, a challenge that goes against the grain, both from today's trends and from local traditions! And yet...

The White House rolls around itself in a clever composition of curves and contra-curves. Here nothing escapes the flexibility of the lines and the roundness of the shapes. As you walk around it, you will discover varied areas where species, sometimes local (giant grasses, verbenas, montanoa), sometimes exotic (palm trees, cactuses, etc.) and always luxuriant thanks to the hay from La Crau, allow for exceptionally fresh and rich soil.

The color palette (blue, green, gray and rust) responds to the white and light-animated architecture while offering a feeling of coherence and unity. Unusual harmony of a Californian garden at the gates of the Camargue. Authentic and full of spirit, just like its owners.

In the shade of the majestic Magnolia, for a time condemned to slaughter and saved in extremis by Frederick, the white masonry and paved masonry of Opus Incertum form walls, steps, terraces and surround the drop-shaped pool, perpetuating the style of the house and the spirit of the seventies.
